THE BRITISH HUNGARIAN SOCIETY PO Box 130, Henley on Thames, Oxon RG9 5YU www.british-hungarian.co.uk ; 01491 641435 ; ilona@esterhazy.co.uk
Dear Members and Associates,
Thanks to those who have paid their membership subscription for 2010.
A reminder to those who have not yet paid: £25 single; £35 family.
So that the records are kept up to date, I would be grateful if you let me know if you no longer wish to be a member. You may wish not to be a member but come to meetings when free and pay the £5. The cost of stamps is expensive so if you are on email please kindly let me know. The Society is a non-profit body and does not want to waste any money sending out unwanted mail. We pay over £100 for the room hire at the Athenaeum and depend largely on the membership fees to keep us going. Much of what I do is not charged for.
We need to build our membership so please do encourage others to come to our meetings. They can be from any other country and though we are now part of Europe the Society stills retains its independence.
If you would like dinner at the Sofitel after the meeting please let me know in good time before the meeting day as a table has to be booked. The price is £35 per head including wine or fruit juice. As I look after the bill at the end of the meal, payment should be made to me and not the Society. This can be made on the day before the meeting. I am not a signatory on the Society’s account and it is a private dinner which I organize. I think will you agree it is very good value for this part of London.
May I remind Members and their guest of the ‘Rules’ of the Club: • ‘Gentlemen to wear jacket and tie, no denims or trainers’ • ‘No mobile telephones to be used in the club’ It is important that as guests of the Athenaeum we keep to these ‘Rules’.
Lady Butterworth and Mr Clemens Nathan, Members of the Athenaeum, give their names so we can hold our meetings in the club. We are grateful to them.
Details for the next two meetings can be seen on the Calendar page.
Thank you for your continued support and to those who have given helpful suggestions. Please feel free to give ideas or names who could be considered to speak at future meetings also whether you would like a lunch time meeting.
My very best wishes to you.
Ilona Ilona Esterhazy. Hon Secretary for The British Hungarian Society.
